raised
Joe and Martha had an area in front of their house in Charlotte where they liked to sit, but also where wind deposited piles of leaves in the fall. They proposed a raised garden bed that would both provide some protection from the wind and some added plant beauty. They had a design for a planter in mind, and loved the idea of a little weirdness added in. Folly-esque and vaguely ruinous. We loved hanging all day with their dog Max, who stood guard as we worked. Special thanks to Joe for accompanying us to the quarry to pick out and hoist stones, and also during the build, as he built the adjacent patio while we built the wall.
