ledge garden
What started as a retaining wall and stair project evolved into something even more special when we uncovered a stunning natural ledge hidden beneath the surface. Rather than covering it, we adjusted the design to highlight its raw beauty, allowing it to become a defining feature of the space.
The new stone wall and stairs were built not just for function but to invite movement—guiding people into the yard and toward the garden path beyond. To further enhance the usability of the space, we also created a pathway from the shed to the side yard, making it easier and safer for the homeowners to transport their kayaks. A raised bed garden was also incorporated, providing a dedicated space for growing plants and further connecting the landscape.
The overall transformation brought a new sense of openness to the space, drawing attention to the plants in a way that celebrates their presence, weaving them more seamlessly into the landscape. The pathways became natural invitations to explore—turning the yard into a place meant to be discovered and enjoyed.
