desert cairn

We built this cairn while staying with friends in Reno, NV, surrounded by vast stretches of sagebrush. It was summer, and the desert landscape shifted through soft tones of ochre, rust, and sage. The sky changed daily with hazy golds and muted purples that mirrored the landscape.

 

Tall and narrow in form, the cairn was inspired by the resilient desert and the junipers and pines scattered across the horizon. Built with intention and presence, it carries the colors and feeling of a season of transformation.
