bird flight wall
Nestled in the woods, this project was inspired by the birds that share space with the homeowners and the joy they bring. Drawing from the flight patterns of birds—how they dip, glide, and flap their wings—the top of the stone wall was designed to mimic these graceful movements using vertical capstones and a crosshatch stacking technique. The result is a playful, undulating wall that appears to dance through the space.
Bordering a garden space that will continue to evolve, this wall is one of the first features visible when arriving at their home. The clients envisioned something welcoming, lighthearted, informal, and fun—qualities we aimed to bring to life in this unique design. Small nooks were also incorporated within the wall, creating spaces to add found treasures over time, making the wall a living, ever-changing reflection of their home and connection to nature.
